Our History

The Tradition Continues

The history of Bongiorno Jewelers begins in 1949, when Alexander J. Bongiorno went to work for Herb Ring Jewelry in the David Stott Building, located in downtown Detroit. There, he learned the craft of fabricating jewelry by hand, as well as gem setting. Alexander then went on to open his own store where he mastered creating jewelry in his own distinct style….classic jewelry with an artistic flair!

The 1970s saw the opening of the Bongiorno store in Troy’s Northfield Financial Tower. In the 1980s, the store relocated to Somerset Collection in Troy, and in 1990 moved to the lobby of the Columbia Center, also in Troy, where it remains today.

For over 70 years, Alexander J. Bongiorno, Creative Jeweler, has created unique jewelry using old world craftsmanship with an artist’s hand. Their high standards for fine quality, and eye for good design are benchmarks that remain today. At the hands of his children, Alexia, David, and Michael, the tradition continues.

With over 130 years experience at the jeweler’s bench, the Bongiorno family has provided creative jewelry solutions for clients whose needs and wants are not found at the usual jewelry store.
